Querying Heterogeneous Land Use Data: Problems and Potential
نویسندگان
چکیده
The proposed Wisconsin Land Information System (WLIS) will be a statewide access mechanism for land related data. It will be a distributed Web-based system with heterogeneous data residing on local and state servers. One of the most important functions for WLIS is to integrate land use data across jurisdictions to enable decision-making for comprehensive land use planning. Here, we describe the semantic problems of integrating land use codes. We then present the current state of our enhancements to an XML query engine to provide query processing over heterogeneous data sets. We also briefly describe the integration of XML databases based on a declaratively specified mapping from each database to a central and expertdefined authority.

Extending XML Web Querying to Heterogeneous Geospatial Information
This paper describes a Web-based query system for semantically heterogeneous geospatial data. Our goal is to provide DBMS type query capabilities to a proposed statewide land information system. One of the main problems in querying distributed local data sources is the difference in semantics describing the characteristics (attributes) of spatial objects between various jurisdictions. To addres...
متن کاملA Web Query System for Heterogeneous Government Data
This paper describes a Web-based query system for semantically heterogeneous governmentproduced data. Geospatial Web-based information systems and portals currently are being developed by various levels of government along with the GIS community. Typically, these sites provide data discovery and download capabilities but do not include the ability to pose DBMS-type queries. One of the main prob...
متن کاملDeveloping a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
متن کاملData Integration for Querying Geospatial Sources
Geospatial data management is fundamental for many applications including land use planning and transportation and is critical in emergency management. However, geospatial data are distributed, complex, and heterogeneous due to being independently developed by various levels of government and the private sector. Until now, the formulation of expressive queries on geospatial data, which contrast...
